Brian Cunningham

Profile Picture - Brian Cunningham

Born in Scotland; Brian has been working at Centre for Musical Arts since 2008. He started playing the clarinet at the age of 11 at school. Through his experiences at school he was given the opportunity to perform with various ensembles throughout the UK, Europe and the USA. He took his degree in music at Napier University in Edinburgh and had clarinet lessons under Alison Waller. As part of his degree he was given the opportunity to study abroad at Mansfield University of Pennsylvania, at which time he was given the opportunity to perform recitals, conduct as well as take part in various ensembles. Brian graduated from Napier University with an Honours Degree in 2006.

Throughout his time in Dubai, Brian has performed in many groups and ensembles on both Clarinet and Saxophone. As well as his work at CMA he is also working towards his Masters Degree in Instrumental Conducting on a part time basis.

In 2014, Brian took on the role as Manager of Schools Services. In this role, he looked after the schools to which CMA provides its peripatetic music lessons. As of August 2019, Brian has taken on the role of Director of Teaching and Learning at the centre, where his role will be focussed on working closely with our specialists in order to deliver consistently high standards in the teaching across the centre, our schools, ensembles and workshops.
