Originally from Hong Kong, Carmen studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London under the guidance of James Baillieu and Michael Dussek. She earned a Master of Arts in Chamber Music, a Licentiate in Teaching (LRAM) under Paul Harris, and a Professional Diploma specializing as a repetiteur.

Following her time in London, Carmen undertook a traineeship at the Conservatorio Arrigo Boito di Parma in Italy. During this period, she served as a pianist and coach for several major opera productions, including Puccini’s Tosca, Rossini’s La scala di seta, and Mozart’s Don Giovanni.

Deepening her expertise in the vocal arts, Carmen minored in singing and vocal pedagogy, studying with the renowned Welsh tenor Ryland Davis. In addition to her keyboard and vocal work, Carmen is an accomplished flutist. She studied under

Sébastian Jacot, Principal Flute of the Berlin Philharmonic, and has participated in masterclasses with Trevor Wye. She was also a member of the flute ensemble Les Chansons de la Flute for numerous performances. 

Continuing her journey as a multi-instrumentalist, she is currently studying the clarinet and enjoys performing with the CMA Wind Ensemble.

With a teaching career spanning over three decades across Hong Kong, the UK, and Italy, Carmen is highly experienced in both instrumental instruction (piano, flute and voice) and piano accompaniment for ABRSM examinations.

Carmen remains an active performer across Europe and locally. Her operatic and choral credits include Carmen, Aida, Don Carlo, and La Bohème, as well as symphonic masterpieces such as Mahler’s Symphony No. 2, Handel’s Messiah, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9—the latter of which she recently performed at the Dubai Opera in 2024.
